Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve Updates:
As of February 2010 herewith our latest updates from within the Hluhluwe Game Reserve, it has been warm and the change in seasons is slowly showing its face. The sunrise now approxiamately 4:45 am and a slight chill in the morning means that soon we will all be wearing pull overs again. The rainy season has subsided a bit however rain is still needed in the area, the Black Umfolozi River has dropped a bit however still running, a clear indication that we have had some good rains this year so far.
The sightings in the game reserve both Imfolozi and Hluhluwe are still good with spectacular sightings of Lion being witnessed presently, the game rangers witnessed some Lions once again in the southern section in Umfolozi Game REserve, these Lions clearly in search of some drop in tempreture where witnessed high up in the tree tops.
Rhinos have been seen almost every day with the odd sighting of Cheetah and Wild Dog. At present as mentioned in our last update the grass is really high and this makes safari sightings a bit more challenging.
Mpila Camp is soon to have its own electric power and soon the humming of the generator will be a thing of the past. The camp has been upgraded and still remains the best place to stay for animal sightings.
Until next time always respect and enjoy the African bush
